Certification in Infection Prevention & Control

The CIC® examination is the standardized measure of the basic knowledge, skills and abilities expected of professionals working in the field of infection prevention and control. The initial certification exam is an objective, multiple-choice examination consisting of 150 questions.

About CBIC

The Certification Board of Infection Control & Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC®) is a voluntary, autonomous, multidisciplinary board that provides direction for and administers the certification process for professionals in infection control and applied epidemiology. CBIC is a subsidiary of The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology. CBIC is independent and separate from any other infection control-related organization or association, but does collaborate with four partner organizations (APIC, APIC Consulting, IPAC Canada, and IFIC) to help promote the importance of being certified in infection prevention and control.
